Veridican is a neologism that means "one who follows that which is true," and Veridicanism means "the doctrine of those who follow that which is true." Veridical means "true," -an is a suffix meaning "a follower of", and -ism is a suffix meaning "the doctrine of."

Veridicanism is a religious faith started by Edward Jerome Gordon in Riverside, California, in 1994. The final form of the Veridican Church was launched on November 7, 2021. It is an online church administered through the Veridican Church Forum at Veridicans.org/Church.

That said, we believe that the truth is Jesus Christ; however, we are not Christians. The best description of our religion may be that we are a gnostic-like group of people who follow only the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as they are found in the four Gospels of the New Testament, the Gospel of Thomas, and the Veridican Gospel of Jesus Christ. We don't follow any other books of the Bible.

Nevertheless, because of those Gospel teachings, and because of our love for the spiritual majesty of our King, Jesus Christ, and because of our desire to imitate him, we are very much like the Magi who came to visit Jesus when he was a child.

They were first to recognize him as a Divine king on Earth, they gave their gifts to him; they worshiped him; and they protected him from Herod who was trying to kill him.

The apostles, on the other hand, left him alone to be crucified. Thus, we are of the spirit of the Magi, not the apostles. That's why we are not Christians.

Veridicans believe we are the elect, existing in the times of the end of the world. Our mission is to provide a community for the elect, to strengthen our faith, and support one another in love and wisdom. We know that the tribulation has already begun, and we endeavor to prepare ourselves mentally, spiritually, and physically to overcome its challenges.

Humanity's day of reckoning notwithstanding, the Veridican Church exists to support the elect of God in Christ. To this end, we endeavor by the power of the Holy Spirit to be a light within the world so loved by God, to lead the Elect to their fulfilled destiny as Christ, and from that power to follow our template who is the firstborn among us--Jesus Christ.
